Playing Truant Tuesday

I have an Immunology midsem worth 20% coming up in a week. Contents include the first 19 grueling lectures. So, while I took time off school to have some quality self study time at home ( which is very different from truancy as I'd like to think), I got bored and decided to bake. Again.
Everytime we bake, waiting time is usually spent sucking on a bella popicecreamcicle.
Lemon cupcakes anyone???
This has ultimately resulted in me having a sugar high at 11pm this Tuesday night.
On a random note, Steph, aged 1.

The Uncanny Resemblance of Yesteryears.

Well, between you and me, I think I need to manually inject more diversity in my life though I'm satisfied with the mundane and am secretly scared of the uncomfort zone. Will see how that goes.

Breakfast that awaited this morning- homemade buttermilk pancakes with nutella + coffee brewed straight from the kitchen.

Friday is Anzac day, a holiday and our bake day.

Bake of the day- Lemon honey buttter tarts and a flan, Baked bits from the rest of the week, by kren!

Escapism

If you'd to study this picture, I'm sure you'll think its pretty hilarious. The bald man looks scared and Mark looks like he's going to pounce. The rest of us just look holly jolly indeed.

ok..really need to study.

In the vibrance of day, in my bed tucked away.

WOW.

I need to study.

Priorities, principles and pure ignorance.

Well, to tell the truth, I havent been the best person in the world lately. Having all my priorities clearly messed up and having way too much fun, procrastinating way too often and having no self discipline what so ever.

I'll make it stop. NOW.

The weekend, as you might have already guessed, was just a waste of time. Its not like I didn't enjoy myself. I did. But time, clearly, could have been better spent.
Friday night was spent playing squash with kren and pq. While friends, like you, enjoy free squash courts at my place, i'm paying a gastly $18/hour here. Rip off much?! It followed by the melbourne uni overseas student night market, which in all honesty, is just a fancy name for pasar malam -only so they can jack up the prices for nachos and cup corn. Then it was to Eve for titus' 21st, but being the non party animals we are, we left for Crown casino to play arcade. I'm really not an arcade girl, I only know Daytona and although I was pretty good at Dance Dance revolution once in my life, I dont think that suffices.

Thats as much as it goes for making new friends and basking in their company. As for the good and trusty old friends, we've been seeing each other way more then we ever used to. For some of us, its the last year here. And others, like me, will have to deal with the void they are bound to create.

Heres nic and jo at one of the cooking sessions at Dawn's house, which is simultaneously a mahjong den, a F4/Disney theater, a bbq pit, a supper stop etc etc. You can just safely say, its the apartment to be at. And whats better? its just 2 floors down from where I am.

Oh, and its now an attraction site, or zoo, whichever you please, with her lastest buy- Scruffy the shitpoo ( shitzu x poodle).

I shall now urge myself to 1. stop ideling and 2. sleep.

Monday, April 07, 2008

Last night, I had a nightmare plagued sleep.

I couldn't wake up for my 8am Pharma lecture. What sucks is that, out of 5 days, 3 days I start at 8am and end at 9....AM. Summing up to a grand total of( mighty drumrolls roar) one! school hour. However, school this year is far from slack. Nothing less then less contact hours it is, but the number of hours one has to put in surpasses that of any school year I've experienced.

Well ok, that was just a mental note I had to provide myself with to spur me on to getting my tush down to the biomedical library, like about, now.

On a lighter note, I have been cooking alot again. Lamb, steak, fish, prawns, calamari, potato in all forms.. are just some new stuff I've tried. I hated lamb and steak in the past and that shall explain why I only stuck to chicken and pork. I've seen the light. So in future, don't count on me to do the hey-bee bee hoon carbs, I'm way more qualified. Did I mention... I've got meself a sexy beyond sexy sunbeam coffee machine from roommate and gang. Say hello to sexy.

I am definitely better equipped to cook your dinner then prepare coffee. One day, I'll be and together with the Starbucks Sirena ( the De'Longhi Magnifica will do too), I'll go places. :)

Going Ons In This Head of Mine.

As I have promised, I am updating and providing insights to what is going on with my mundane, yet equally enriching and surprisingly slack, first month of school. Needless to mention, this year feels like its a good year and sure has started off with a bloody bang ( although, I did wish a whole lot of people a happy 2009) that doesn't suffice to dampen the spirit.

Chinese New Year

Pretty memorable one, I must say. The last one celebrated at the family estate after 40 odd years and at leedon, the place my parents bought right after getting married for their retirement. Well, yes, it does send shivers down my spine thinking about it but I guess that's how the cookie crumbles. Nothing stays the same and well, our duty is to embrace it.

Another Year Older
Dear old daddy surprised me with his enthusiasm and party spirit and planned a great 21st one day before flying back to Melbourne. The company was just incredible. It just really emphasized that I have a TONNE to give thanks for and I have no idea where to start.
Melbourne in March

Lisa's 20th

3/5/08, arrived in Melbourne at 7am and made an attempt to rush to school for 8am lecture. You're not really bright even though you guessed I did not make it to class. But I did collect my school diary! Consolation much? And celebrated Lisa's 20th at the carlton park just behind my apartment and also just beside our exam venue. Not exactly something you'd like to see the first day you get back to school.

Home

New additions, namely a chest of drawers, to the room allow my clothes to have enough storage space. Or so I thought. I still leave alot of clothes out and the drawers can't close.

2nd Round to Happy Getting Older Day.

The girls threw a Disney themed party, how very apt for leaving childhood behind. Honestly, even with all the perks of being 21, all the hype about being an adult has been masacaraed. We technically do anything at any age, whats 21? An excuse to have a big party and feel loved. :)

Back to school

I had some back to Melbourne and back to school blues. Cured by my two friends here though. Maccers fries tastes very, very nice after a night like this.

Friday night when I'm here

Similar to that much enjoyed in Singapore, yet a far cry from it.

Easter Break In the City

Going to the gym, going to shop, going to church, this is where you'll have to pass by. Melbourne can get pretty, sometimes.

Easter break Horse Back Riding

One word- Painful. The ranch is almost the size of the entire sentosa and is own by a family who runs it. Did you know horses can walk and shit at the same time? I didn't! It was err, amazing?

Easter Break Wine Tasting

Headed down to Yarra Valley to check out the award winning, highly proclaimed, too posh for me vineyards. And good thing is, TASTING IS FREE! contrary to what I believed was about $45 per person per vineyard ( and we planned to visit 3). Heng ka lausai. Yering station (above), gorgeous as heck has really good desserts and white wines. I'm not a big fan of white wines, not a fan at all, in fact. Anyways, got myself a real steal- $19 for a 2005 Shiraz Chardonnay, of which tastes superb with steak and needs to be finished by today.

Easter Break Friday Night.

Soon my energy levels shall decrease and I'll be running on Adrenaline and I'll completely stop partying. Promise. Again, Maccers fries are damn good after a night like this.

That's about all that has been happening. Very unlike the life of that back in home with infatuation dramas all. ;) Do note you are much missed and I can't wait to get back. SQUASH!
